I used to mix integrity, dignity and care
And if I had to go against my principles I’d pull the pin right there
I drew the line
But compromise I’ve learned is more a necessary means
We might just sell out some more if we wanna stay living the dream
We oughta keep up appearances
We don’t wanna let down our fans
We wanna keep the good times rolling on and on if we can
We oughta keep up appearances
If we wanna keep all these toys
We better pull out heads in and behave
Just smile and wave boys!
We used to do this for ourselves and be damned a peer review
Now we give the public what they want it’s the decent thing to do
This ocean view is where we draw the line
This ocean view is where we draw the line
We used to do this for ourselves and be damned a peer review
Now we give the public what they want, it’s the decent thing to do

Malvern Star
04:28
|
|||
We were born a month apart, we were neighbours just across the park
The time I threw your brother Al in the pool one night; my finest hour
Your mum would drive us then and now to school in a rush, her hair in a towel
Until the day I could make my way there under my own power
But looking back was I over-looking?
Was it hidden in plain sight?
Could it be that I rejected your advances for a bike!?
Forgive me
Mary Mary Mary
How was I to know?
I wasn’t even in my teens I hadn’t learned how these things go
You couldn’t come between us
It was a bridge too far
Me and my Malvern Star
Racing green with a 5 star badge on the fork and one the frame to match
A 10 speed derailleur gear with Shimano brakes both front and rear
The E.R.D and the B.S.D, I was totally engrossed
There was nothing more important to me, nothing came close, I remember
Mary Mary Mary
How was I to know?
I wasn’t even in my teens I hadn’t learned how these things go
You couldn’t come between us
We never got that far
Blame it on Malvern Star
Mary Mary Mary
How was I to know?
I wasn’t even in my teens I hadn’t learned how these things go
You couldn’t come between us
It was a bridge too far
I was so fixated by those alloy handlebars
Mary Mary Mary
We never got that far
Blame it on my Malvern Star
Blame it on (forgive me)
Blame it on (I remember…)

Twelfth man
03:32
|
|||
I’m up early and I go to pull my whites on
Towel hat and zinc cream
I look the part but I gotta get a move on
If I’m gonna make the A team
I’m getting set in the net with my pads on
Now I’ve got my eye in
I get a nod from the coach as he looks on
and I’m sure I’ve got his buy in
I’m knock knock knock knockin’em around
I knock knock knock knockin’em around
I got my head down I’m doing all I can (but they keep)
Making me the twelfth man
I’m a drinks carrier
It’s a big, big barrier
I need to scale to land a spot more keenly sought than a place in heaven
In the starting eleven
The skipper sides up and he says in a scolder
It’s not enough to be a batsman
If I could use you as bowler
Then I’d have another option
I’m throw throw throw throwing’em down
I’m throw throw throw throwing’em down
I’ve got’em tied down I’m doing all I can (but they keep)
Making me the twelfth man
There was chatter at home but my Dad forbade it
He had a dark secret
He didn’t want his kids to know he never made it
That he was still in treatment
A long long long time to fill
A long long long time to fill
But it hurts still
He can’t forgive that clan (it runs deep)
For making him the twelfth man
(and just like Dad) I’m a drinks carrier
It’s a big, big barrier
I need to scale to land a spot and I won’t stop until I can
But they keep making me the twelfth man

Timekeeper

I can’t ignore celestial science or
Those who risk more than a ban
Thanks to their spheres with the cogs and the gears
I can adhere to a plan
What would I do? I so rely on you
Those who can calculate time
Fairly at one with the stars and the sun
I salute you, I’m a fan
Time slips away, slips away from me
Borrowed; the time I’m on
Time slips away, slips away till it’s gone
Time isn’t free, it guides all activity
In times of peace and in war
In matters of faith and of commerce and State
It’s mattering more and more
And if ever we play a late September Saturday
Can I count on you when
At the moment I plead as the Crows hit the lead
Blow the siren!

I've met a girl
03:24
|
|||
I have to pinch myself to make sure it isn’t a dream
I’m on a new trajectory, a full head of steam
On Friday I was surly and depressed
What a difference a weekend makes, this ranks with the best
Mum drops by, says what’s up guy? your head is full of snow
Not much gets past you Mum, if you really wanna know..
I’ve met a girl, I’ve met a girl
Right against the run of play
My mind is in a whirl
I’ve met a girl, I’ve met a girl
Hip hip hooray I’ve met a girl
I wanna take her out right away, I wanna show her off
See even men like me we can pull it off
As long as we don’t try too hard to impress
Or let self doubt settle in and make a mess
(A little voice inside my head says)
What if she’s on to me and worked me out
Figured out already what I’m all about
I know she’s probably thinking boy what have I done
This might be over ‘for it ever quite begun
I’ve met a girl, I’ve met a girl
How can I hold on to her
In the real world
I’ve met a girl, I’ve met a girl
Hip hip hooray I’ve met a girl
What am I gonna wear tonight that won’t give me away?
I’ve run right out of insights, I’ve nothing left to say
It’s Mum again and she says Cam just try and be yourself
As long you can stay awake the rest’ll take care of itself
I’ve met a girl, I’ve met a girl
I found the perfect one
As far as I can tell
I’ve met a girl, I’ve met a girl
Hip hip hooray I’ve met a girl
Hip hip hooray I’ve met a girl
